Stand FirmWalk Faithfully “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.” I Corinthians 16:13 What image comes to mind when you think of a man? God’s Word has something to say about what it means to be a man. Paul wrote to the church at Corinth saying “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.” Be Watchful A godly man is both a physical and spiritual protector—standing guard over his family, his marriage, and the unity of the church. He must remain alert: to the tactics of the enemy, the influences shaping his home, and the condition of his own heart. The role of a man as the priest of his home is sacred; he is called to guard what has been entrusted to him and his reputation should be above reproach . Jesus warned His disciples to “watch and pray." Don’t be lulled to sleep by comfort or distraction. Don’t fall asleep at your post. Stand Firm A man of God does not waver when life gets hard. He is steadfast—anchored in integrity, faithful whether or not he is seen, praised, or thanked. In a world that rewards compromise, he stays rooted in prayer and the Word of God. His foundation is Truth. Even when culture presses in from all sides, he remains grounded. He is not unpredictable or unreliable—he is consistent and dependable. Act Like a Man To act like a man is to act in courage. Whether it's sharing the gospel, standing up for what's right, or simply obeying the Lord- following Jesus requires courage. A man works hard, knowing that providing for his family is both a duty and an honor. He does hard things because they are the right things. He doesn’t live for ease or applause. He leads, serves, and sacrifices because that’s what men of God do. Be Strong Scripture says, “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might” (Ephesians 6:10). A man of God draws his strength from Christ, not from himself. Strength is needed to resist temptation, endure hardship, and lead others. It is built daily—through prayer and through time in the Word. Strength doesn’t mean you’re emotionless; it means you’re not ruled by emotion. A strong man leans into the Lord and keeps standing—when others quit. Here are some ways to apply these qualities: Watchfulness - Check for things in the home that are having an ungodly influence on yourself or your family. Steadfastness - Devote to prayer and Bible reading even when no one is watching. Courage - Share your faith! Strength - Commit to regular prayer and fasting. |

What I Love About Dad
This month, we asked a few of our kids—and some grown-ups too—to share something special about their dads. These little quotes remind us just how important a father’s voice and presence can be. "I love my dad because he lets me go to school." - Elijah "When I break something my dad gets me a new one when I text him." - Lucas "One of my favorite things about my dad is how he sings and dances in the grocery store. He is also very brave and would do anything for his family." - Jessica "I want my dad to be strong! My dad takes me on a trip." - Milo "When I think about my dad, the first word that comes to mind is 'selfless.' Throughout my life, he has dedicated the majority of his time and energy to making sure we had everything we needed. To me, he is exactly what a dad should be. My dad has always been my favorite superhero! - Jamie "Always be kind to your dad. Dad helps you with your homework sometimes." - Noah "I have so many memories - like when I almost took off his foot with a shotgun when we were squirrel hunting together, or the many building projects we've done together, like most recently when we built Aubree's bed frame. He always put God first, then family, then church duties. He fulfilled the roles of protector, provider, priest, and prophet in our home." - Spencer "Dad’s are good at working." - Mallory "My dad is such a hard worker. At one time he took on three jobs to support our family. His work ethic is admirable." - Rebecca "He’s a really good builder. Daddy lets me play on my ipad" - Aubree "He's a good father. I remember when I was little we would go down to Florida and we would go to a good friend of his and they would talk for hours and I would sit on his lap and fall asleep 'cause they would talk for so long. Good memories never fade away! - Jasmine "I love that he makes delicious food. When I’m sick he takes good care of me." - Maryana "My dad is very loving and is always there for me. He makes good steak!" - Kaitlyn "My dad was a great listener. I could talk to him about anything, and I could always count on him to attempt to understand before he responded." - Josh "A good dad should work." - Diamond "My daddy was so special. He told us he loved us and gave us hugs all the time, but also played with us regularly, told us bedtime stories at night, sang to us, read the Word of God, and prayed with us. He didn't make a lot of money, but what he did was more precious than gold!" - Sonja "Dad’s should be nice. My dad lets me ride the church van." - Jackson "I like how my dad is always there for me when I need him, and how he is caring." - Faith "A favorite memory about my dad is when he would take each of us girls out to spend time with us, individually." -Aleaha "My dad is my biggest fan and greatest encourager (along with my husband). His positivity has meant a lot to me throughout my life. I consider myself blessed." - Misty "My dad makes the best lattes and gives good snuggles. I admire his intellect, love to listen to his ideas, and I like that he shares what he learns with me." - Ashlene
